EAT&ART TARO
Artist
Having worked at restaurants after graduating from cooking school, I now provide catering at galleries and art museums and hold food workshops, as well as engaging in café production. To date, I have presented numerous works on the theme of foods, including Ogori Cafe, a café in which visitors can only buy a meal for someone else, with the food that a visitor orders being served to the next visitor; Island Soup, which was created in the islands of the Seto Inland Sea; Retro Cooking, which involves collecting and researching recipe books published during the reign of the previous emperor, which spanned most of the 20th century, and recreating the recipes in them; and Weekly Sports Day for Rice Ball, in which I organized sports days with participants, specifically for the purpose of eating tasty onigiri rice balls.
Events in which I have been involved include Bokuto Machimise (Sumida City, Tokyo), Echigo-Tsumari Art Field at Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (Niigata), Toshima Art Station Koso Toshima Art Station Z (Toshima City, Tokyo), Setouchi Triennale (Kagawa), and Nakafusa International Arts Festival Ichihara ART MIX (Ichihara City, Chiba).
