Mebae Sasaki

Artist

Sasaki was born in 1996 and lives in Hokkaido. Graduated from the Faculty of Education, Chiba University. She has been interested in the sensibilities of people with developmental disabilities since high school, studying special needs education at university. While still a student she worked as a counselor at a special camp for people with autism in North Carolina in the US, before returning to Japan and presenting a TED x Chiba-U talk called “What creates barriers: Breaking down assumptions about what needs to be done.” She held her first solo exhibition in her hometown of Obihiro in March 2019 and is currently working as a freelance artist. She also enjoys traveling and biking.
