Tomoko Iwata

Artist

Born in 1983 in Kanagawa Prefecture. In 2008 she graduated with a Masters Degree in Intermedia Art from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts.
Her creations, based on the observation and collection of familiar natural objects, give a sense of the cosmic cycle.
Her work takes a variety of forms: in 2012 she created SILENT MIXER in a crop field, and in 2014 islanders on Awashima Island in Kagawa Prefecture collected natural objects for her project Awashima Nature Observation Ship. She also regularly holds woodland workshops for children in cooperation with a Nature School instructor. Iwata values a simple perspective on the natural world, and the learning and artistic expression it inspires.
