Yu Sato

Born in 1985 in Mie Prefecture.
Under the theme “communicating” Sato produces works which incorporate speech and dialogue.
Major projects include “Ichimai-banashi,” in which all participants improvise a story together while drawing pictures on a piece of paper; the “Yakekuso sanpo” series in which Sato goes to out-of-the-way places where there seems to be nothing particularly worth mentioning, giving somewhat forced onsite reports; and “Shittaka University,” a talk series giving the history of art in which he pretends he knows everything. In recent years, he has been interested in art appreciation, conducting his own original art appreciation program at multiple museums.
