Yuki Kobayashi

Artist

Artist / performance artist born in Tokyo in 1990. After attending the University of Hawaii Kapiolani Community College in 2008, Kobayashi moved to the UK in 2010, and graduated with a degree from Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts London in 2014. He was the first ever Japanese student to enroll in The Royal College of Art’s performance department, receiving an MA in 2016. Using his own body as a neutral 3D object, he questions sex, disability, and racial stereotypes, and throws doubt on dubious social codes of freedom and equality, in an output centering on performance works that explore the meaning of human existence. He produces numerous stage and video works as well as contemporary art pieces.
